Tommy McNamara hit a wicked curler into the top right corner to open the 2016 MLS season. This is not the first time McNamara has been nominated for Goal of the Week. He previously won for his long-range strike against Philadelphia in 2015.
Mix Diskerud volleyed home a cross from McNamara to put NYCFC up 4-2 in the 63rd minute. This goal marks the second time Mix has scored in a season opener, having scored against Orlando City SC in New York City FC’s first ever MLS match.
