New York City FC announced today that fullback Shannon Gomez will head on loan to the United Soccer League’s Pittsburgh Riverhounds.
The 20 year old Gomez put forth a solid preseason display for NYCFC, but has not seen the field in a competitive game in 2017. His lone start for the Blues came last year in the U.S. Open Cup against the New York Cosmos.
An attacking-oriented, right-sided player, Gomez initially came to New York City on loan from Trinidadian club W-Connection before the 2016 season. Though he didn’t appear in MLS play and missed the second half of the campaign with a ruptured knee ligament, NYCFC opted to purchase Gomez from W-Connection the following offseason.
