New York City FC weathered the storm Friday night at Red Bull Arena, escaping the year’s final Hudson River Derby with a 1-1 draw.
But as their constructive summer wanes, the second-place Boys in Blue find themselves literally limping towards into the fall: per NYCFC.com, defender Ethan White stands to miss the next four weeks with a calf strain, while midfielder Mikey Lopez is out three to four weeks with a sprained foot.
White and Lopez are simply the newest additions to what is already a formidable list of unavailables for NYCFC: defensive rock Maxime Chanot may not be able to return from sports hernia surgery unless the team mounts a serious playoff run, and Ronald Matarrita remains sidelined as he recovers from toe surgery; additionally, the September 6th home showdown with Sporting KC will see David Villa (Spain), Alex Ring (Finland), Yangel Herrera (Venezuela), and Rodney Wallace (Costa Rica) all away at World Cup Qualifying.
