NYCFC still can’t win at home, settle for draw vs. New England

Chris Tierney’s goal off a free kick in the 38th minute helped the short-handed New England Revolution play New York City FC to a 1-1 draw Saturday at Yankee Stadium.

Thomas McNamara headed home the rebound of a volley by David Villa that ricocheted off the crossbar and NYCFC took a 1-0 lead in the 10th minute.

But 28 minutes later, after Andoni Iraola was shown the yellow card, Tierney’s free kick deflected off NYCFC’s Steven Mendoza into the net to tie it.

New England’s Gershon Koffie drew a straight red card for a tackle on McNamara in the 51st and the Revolution (0-1-3), despite being a man down the rest of the way, held on for the draw.
