One week removed from their season opener, New York City FC have announced that they have signed defender Abdi Mohamed to a contract after drafting the former Akron man in the second round of this year’s MLS SuperDraft. Furthermore, the club has sent Mohamed on loan to USL side Memphis 901, which is also where goalkeeper Jeff Caldwell was sent on loan earlier this week.
Mohamed is coming off of an impressive senior year at Akron, in which he made 24 appearances — a full season — logging a goal and 5 assists from the back line.
