New York may get its first soccer stadium if a consortium of developers are selected by the state to redevelop the Harlem River Yards in the Bronx, according to a report.
Related Companies, Somerset Partners, and New York City Football Club are proposing a 26,000-seat stadium as part of a larger Empire State Development Corporation plan to cap over the 12.8-acre train yard with mixed-use development, according to the blog YIMBY.
The $700 million project would include 550 affordable housing units and a waterfront park. The stadium — designed by 432 Park Ave and Jazz at Lincoln Center architect Rafael Viñoly — is projected to cost about $75 million.
