With injuries hammering their defense, New York City FC finally added insurance and signed Slovenia defender trialist Andraz Struna on a free transfer, the club announced Wednesday.
Struna, 28, last played for Hearts in the Scottish Premier League in 2017, when he appeared in 13 league matches and scored one goal. The right back previously played professionally in Poland, Greece and his homeland of Slovenia.
“For me, it’s a great pleasure to sign here for New York City FC,” Struna, who can play all defensive positions, said in a release. “There are many reasons why I’m glad to be here, such as the club having a solid foundation and giving me the opportunity to work with great experts.
