Everything is new again for New York City FC as they embark on their first-ever playoff experience when they play at Toronto FC on Sunday in the MLS Eastern Conference semifinal.
NYCFC, an expansion team last year, failed to qualify for the playoffs in its first season — finishing eighth in the conference. This season, the club improved to second in the Eastern Conference and has the home-field advantage in this two-game aggregate series, which shifts to Yankee Stadium next Sunday.
“It’s going to be exciting for the players and everyone in the club, because it’s new to all of us,’’ first-year NYCFC coach Patrick Vieira said.
