NYCFC coach sees promise in youngster struggling for minutes

Jonathan Lewis might not be a 90-minute player yet, according to his coach.

When asked if the 21-year-old was not yet ready to play a full game so far in his career, New York City FC coach Domenec Torrent said “maybe” but it’s not because of his offensive output.

“I am very happy with Jonathan,” Torrent told The Post earlier this week. “[He] needs to improve a little bit when he doesn’t have the ball. … He’s a fast player, [and] when we have the ball, it’s not a problem.”

Torrent attributed Lewis’ off-the-ball struggles mainly to his positional role when NYCFC transitions into defense.
