New York City FC returns from the international break for a rematch with the New York Cosmos in the fourth round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Wednesday night at Fordham University’s Coffey Field at 7:30pm (YES).
This will be the first time in franchise history that NYCFC will host a U.S. Open Cup match.
In the first-ever meeting between the teams in the same round a year ago at Hofstra University’s Shuart Stadium, the Cosmos advanced via penalty kicks following a thrilling encounter.
Kwadwo Poku staked NYCFC to a 2-0 lead with a goal in each half, but the Cosmos rallied to tie the game in the 90th minute before prevailing in PKs, winning the shootout, 4-3.
