Despite opting out of Stage 2 of the 2017 MLS Re-Entry Draft (MLS sure has a lot of drafts) on Thursday, New York City FC still made some moves for the future.
NYCFC have traded the right to sign attacking midfielder Ulises Segura, from Costa Rican club Deportivo Saprissa, to D.C. United in exchange for $50K in General Allocation Money (GAM), the teams announced.
Segura, 24, was reportedly pursued by both City and D.C. back in May shortly before the summer transfer window opened.
Segura has capped three times for the Costan Rican national team since January 2017 and has helped guide Saprissa to Liga FPD titles in their 2013-14, 2015-16, and 2016-17 seasons.
