NYCFC goalkeeper Josh Saunders has been nominated for MLS Save of the Week (Week 32/33).
The 35-year old produced a fingertip stop from Jared Jeffrey’s fizzing 30-yard volley in the 37th minute with NYCFC 2-0 down to DC United, pushing the ball onto the crossbar.
Although Patrick Vieira’s side eventually went down 3-1 in Washington, it was a sensational save and puts the goalkeeper in contention to win the title for the first time this season.
Saunders faces strong competition from David Bingham, Brad Knighton, Andre Blake, Paolo Tornaghi, Bill Hamid, Joe Willis and Stefan Frei.
