The United States played Mexico in the CONCACAF U17 Championship on Sunday but ultimately lost 5-4 in penalty shootouts after finishing in a 1-1 draw after 120 minutes.
The US were on the scoreboard first after Andrew Carleton scored a first-time volley from 20 yards out. Mexico responded with a late strike by Carlos Robles to force extra time.
After a penalty shootout, Mexico went on to win its third consecutive and seventh overall CONCACAF U17 title.
Despite the loss, the United States U17 team played a great match and NYCFC's James Sands was named to the tournament's Best XI.
