Egregious. Preposterous. Ridiculous. Unacceptable!
These are the words that aren’t of the four-letter variety that popped into my head when I saw that Anton Tinnerholom — easily the best right back in the league — was snubbed when it came to the MLS Defender of the Year Award.
The finalists for the award are Mark McKenzie from the Philadelphia Union, Jonathan Mensah from the Columbus Crew, and Walker Zimmerman of Nashville SC — all center backs.
I just don’t get it. While all three of the players listed above had great seasons, Tinnerholm was in another world in 2020.
