Cam Jordan, typically full of jest and joy in the New Orleans Saints locker room, spoke solemnly Monday morning.
The pain of losing Will Smith, his friend and former mentor, hasn't healed, though admitted killer Cardell Hayes received two convictions late Sunday night -- one for manslaughter in the shooting death of Smith and one for attempted manslaughter in the shooting of Smith's wife, Racquel.
Hayes' sentencing is scheduled for mid-February. The possibility of 60 years in Angola for Hayes won't erase what's happened.
"That's a very touchy subject that's very close to the heart," said Jordan, who was a pallbearer at Smith's funeral.
