The New Orleans Saints had several former players picked in the inaugural XFL Draft, in which all eight teams made selections over 70 rounds. These players will have a chance to earn playing-time on the start-up professional league, which intends to kick off in 2020.
While the most-recognizable names among Saints fans are now members of the Dallas Renegades (former Saints second-round pick Hau’oli Kikaha and longtime punt returner Tommylee Lewis), the Tampa Bay Vipers have three former Saints, the most of any team.
Other former Saints players weren’t so lucky. Wide receivers Robert Meachem and Travin Dural put their names in the hat, but neither were called up.
