Not all NFL free agents go through the same experience. The biggest stars create headlines when signings are announced in March, but other players take a more-difficult route to reach the free agent market. The New Orleans Saints feature ten such players, broken into two groups: restricted free agents, and exclusive rights free agents. The first group is stocked with former undrafted rookies who have played out their NFL-standard three-year contracts. The latter class features players who have accrued fewer than three full seasons (at a minimum of three regular season games per year), and is mostly those who were promoted from the Saints practice squad.
