The now-infamous play that helped cost the New Orleans Saints a Super Bowl berth still haunts head coach Sean Payton, but he has an understanding peer in Oakland Raiders head coach Jon Gruden, whose 2002 Raiders team lost a playoff game to the New England Patriots after a critical fumble was overturned by official ruling – giving birth to the much-derided ‘Tuck Rule’ moniker.
Gruden empathized with the emotions Payton dealt with: “If you really want to dwell on it, you don’t ever get over that,” Gruden related to Christopher Dabe of the Times-Picayune. “It’s the last time that team will ever be together.
