Trey Hendrickson spearheads Saints' league-leading pass rush

The 2019 season was a sink-or-swim year for New Orleans Saints defensive end Trey Hendrickson. So far, he’s defied all expectations, combining top-shelf athleticism, rehearsed technique, and on-point snap anticipation to lead the Saints in sacks (3) through their first two games. Cameron Jordan ranks second (2), and five other players have recorded a sack or half-sack of their own. Not bad for a someone who was once an afterthought, drafted at the end of the third round out of Florida Atlantic.

But consider the bigger picture: the Saints pace the rest of the NFL in sacks (9) and are a close second-best in quarterback hits (they have 17; the Baltimore Ravens are on top with 21).
