He didn’t hit the personal benchmarks he hoped for, but New Orleans Saints wide receiver Tre’Quan Smith enjoyed his rookie year in the NFL. He made strong bonds with his new teammates and helped the team push deep in the playoffs. But Smith knows he can play better, and he’s encouraged by the fact that New Orleans did not draft another wideout a year after selecting him.
“I was like, ‘They didn’t have to. They got me and Keith (Kirkwood) there,'” Smith told Josh Katzenstein of the Times-Picayune. “We’re great players, so I’m kind of happy they didn’t.
