METAIRIE, La. -- Who knew the return of backup tight end Josh Hill would have such a big impact on the New Orleans Saints offense?
Hill’s return provided two advantages in New Orleans’ 41-38 victory over the Carolina Panthers on Sunday.
First, it allowed the Saints to use more two-tight end sets and create some defensive mismatches they liked -- which receiver Brandin Cooks credited for helping him to get open for seven catches, 173 yards and a TD.
Secondly, Hill made a spectacular 8-yard touchdown catch with 6:02 remaining to give New Orleans a 38-30 lead.
