Thomas Morstead suffers lower leg injury, punts through pain

New Orleans Saints punter Thomas Morstead went down in the third quarter after being struck in his plant leg by Carolina Panthers linebacker David Mayo. Mayo drew a 15 yard penalty on the play, but Morstead was unable to take his feet after taking the big hit to his ankle and lower leg.

Morstead has been a mainstay for the Saints since being drafted in 2009, and is one of the few active Saints remaining to wear a Super Bowl ring from that season’s championship.

Fortunately, he was able to sprint off the field and was seen walking on the sideline.
