The lives of 255 young football players changed forever a couple weeks ago as lifelong dreams of playing at the professional level were finally fulfilled. As they each heard their names called by NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell one-by-one during the virtual draft, years of hard work and dedication had finally paid off.
But for the players who went unselected during the three-day, seven-round ordeal, the draft was no cause for celebration. Worse still, a large portion of these players forfeited remaining eligibility at the college level to try to seize their dream while the opportunity still presented itself.
