Surging Saints in familiar territory after four wins in five games

This marks the third consecutive season the New Orleans Saints won a game that improved their record to 4-4.

In both the last two seasons, they lost the next game, both at home, and both in overtime.

Avoiding that outcome this week against the Denver Broncos will let the Saints move above .500 for the first time since they last reached the playoffs in 2013.

"I don't know that you point specifically to, 'Hey, we've got to get over .500,'" Saints coach Sean Payton said Monday, one day after his team won at San Francisco 41-23.
