Supreme Court lifts gambling ban, what does this mean for Louisiana?

On Monday, a wide-ranging decision was reached by the U.S. Supreme Court to effectively remove federal oversight of sports gambling regulation. By a vote of 7-2, the justices sided with the state of New Jersey in Christie v. NCAA, affectionately referred to as the sports-betting case. This will eventuallyopen up wagering on athletics. Four states already have some style of betting laws currently on their books: Nevada, Oregon, Montana, and Delaware. The rest of the country has been left out of the lucrative endeavor.

The outcome of this case will directly impact both professional and amateur sports throughout the United States, including Louisiana.
