While it was assumed that New Orleans would be awarded the the prize of hosting the Super Bowl in 2024 (being the only known city in the running), it was made official this morning by the Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation. This will be the 8th time the Mercedes-Benz Superdome (Formerly the Louisiana Superdome) has hosted the event. Per the Pro Football Hall of Fame, no stadium has hosted more than five Super Bowls except the one in New Orleans.
New Orleans also hosted three Super Bowls in old Tulane Stadium between 1970 and 1975, making this the eleventh time the city has hosted a Super Bowl.
