Barring an unforeseen setback, the New Orleans Saints plan for quarterback Drew Brees to start Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals, according to sources.
On Sept. 15, Brees suffered a torn ligament in the thumb on his passing hand as he made contact with pass-rushing Los Angeles Rams defensive lineman Aaron Donald's outstretched hand. He had surgery the following week in Los Angeles with Dr. Steven Shin with the expectation he would miss approximately six weeks.
The Saints had the option of letting Teddy Bridgewater make another start before the bye week.
