Source: Scout Prophett leaving for Detroit job

The Saints have lost a scout.

Brendan Prophett, who was an area scout for New Orleans last season, has been hired to serve as the director of pro scouting for the Detroit Lions, a source told The Advocate on Friday.

Prophett previously served as the New York Jets’ director of pro personnel before being fired last offseason. He spent 15 seasons with that organization, also serving as a regional scout, pro scout and assistant director of pro scouting.

New Orleans revamped its scouting staff last offseason, also hiring Cody Rager and Jon Sandusky. Rager previously worked with assistant general manager Jeff Ireland in Miami.
