NEW ORLEANS -- The New Orleans Saints are planning to sign quarterback Nathan Peterman to a one-year deal, a source told ESPN.
Peterman, 29, will compete for a backup role behind quarterback Derek Carr following the departure of Jameis Winston. The Saints also have 2023 fourth-round pick Jake Haener on the roster.
Peterman, who began his career with the Buffalo Bills in 2017, was most recently a backup for the Chicago Bears, where he worked with new Saints quarterbacks coach Andrew Janocko.
