New Orleans Saints coach Sean Payton confirmed Tuesday reports about where his team stands in its pursuit of cornerback Malcolm Butler.
For now, it looks like the Saints won't be completing a trade with the New England Patriots to acquire Butler.
"There's nothing new," Payton said Tuesday at the Zurich Classic Celebrity Shootout at TPC Louisiana. "He's with New England, and I don't think anything has changed. I don't see anything being imminent as well."
Sports Illustrated's MMQB reported Monday that a Butler deal had become "less attractive" to the Saints, indicating they would rather save their draft picks in a class loaded with defensive prospects.
