NEW ORLEANS -- Wil Lutz had a rough first day on the job. But, man, did he come oh-so-close to being one of the stories of the weekend in the NFL.
The New Orleans Saints' undrafted rookie kicker missed a game-winning 61-yard field goal attempt by a matter of inches as time expired in Sunday’s 35-34 loss to the Oakland Raiders. It had enough leg, but drifted wide left on him.
Lutz also missed a 50-yard attempt wide left in the fourth quarter and finished 2-of-4 -- a costly average when you lose a game by one point.
