Speaking with Sports Illustrated’s Peter King recently, Saints head coach Sean Payton seemed dismissive of the crop of quarterbacks coming out in the 2018 NFL Draft. He specifically went on to say that he didn’t see an Andrew Luck or Carson Wentz in this year’s crop.
There are those who would say this is a typical pre-draft smoke screen. Throwing other teams off the scent so they won’t consider the Saints a threat to take a quarterback in the first round. I’d say Sean Payton is dead on and being honest.
The talk for the past several months is that Sam Darnold and Josh Rosen are the obvious top two QBs coming into the draft.
