A week after flying out to the West Coast for a preseason game against the Los Angeles Chargers, the New Orleans Saints will hit the East Coast to visit the New York Jets in their third preseason game. And this time, starting quarterback Drew Brees will take some snaps from under center.
“I think in a game like this, we’ll plan on playing him,” Saints head coach Sean Payton said after practice on Wednesday. “How much we’ll see. I think it’s important for everyone else around him too.”
The Saints have rested Brees during their first two preseason games, with backups Teddy Bridgewater and Taysom Hill seeing a near-even split in playing-time.
