METAIRIE, La. -- Sean Payton couldn't praise Tim Hightower enough when asked Wednesday about the New Orleans Saints running back being selected as the team's Ed Block Courage Award winner.
"His teammates vote on that, and it was, I want to say, a perfect candidate," Payton said. "He's tremendously respected in the locker room. And in all my years coaching, I don't know that I've been a part of a team with a more worthy Ed Block candidate than Tim Hightower."
Hightower, 30, has made a remarkable comeback over the past two years after spending three-plus years out of the NFL with a knee injury and an infection that originally went undiagnosed.
