When it was announced the Seahawks and the Saints would play each other in 2019, many fans circled this game as one of the better early matchups in September. It was supposed to be a showdown between conference heavyweights led by two of the best “undersized” quarterbacks in the NFL — Russell Wilson and Drew Brees.
Instead, Brees will not play after tearing a ligament in his throwing hand in Week 2 – an injury that required surgery this week. Convention suggests the Seahawks will simply prepare for New Orleans’ backup, but Saints coach Sean Payton is anything but conventional.
