Saintstory: The Dome Patrol, its eight-year reign 1986-1992

The New Orleans Saints played their first game in 1967. It took 22 years for the Saints to register their first winning season. And much of the credit for that success and the winning that would come after has to be attributed to the four starting linebackers in New Orleans who went by the name the Dome Patrol.

From 1986 to 1992 Rickey Jackson, Vaughan Johnson, Sam Mills and Pat Swilling brought a whole new sense of pride to the Big Easy as they became a dominant force in the NFL, a stifling defensive unit that demanded respect.
