Everybody already assumed this, but Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Dirk Koetter announced on Thursday, July 26, that Ryan Fitzpatrick would be the team’s starting quarterback for Week 1 versus the Saints. Of course, this is due to Jameis Winston serving a three-game suspension for allegedly groping an Uber driver.
The big deal coming on the heels of that announcement is the Koetter wouldn’t commit to Winston being his starter once the suspension is served. That’s a bit of a surprise.
Winston has had an up and down career with the Bucs since being the first overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft.
