During training camp last season, we started to hear about an interesting project. Dan Arnold, a wide receiver buried deep in depth chart purgatory, was being converted to play tight end. Sean Payton spoke glowingly of the experiment, even going so far as to compare Arnold to former Dallas Cowboys great Jay Novacek.
The Saints were going into the 2018 Season with Benjamin Watson and Josh Hill at tight end and little else. Despite the lack of depth or star power, the Saints passed over every tight end in the 2018 NFL Draft and only bought in undrafted rookie Deon Yelder out of Western Kentucky once it was done.
