The New Orleans Saints began the process of thinning their 90-man roster to just 53 players on Friday by waiving veteran cornerback Kayvon Webster, as first reported by Adam Schefter of ESPN. Webster was signed during training camp as competition for other players on the fringe of the roster, such as Ken Crawley, P.J. Williams, and Justin Hardee. Webster showed above-average tackling ability in the preseason but was sometimes undisciplined in coverage, picking up several ticky-tack pass-interference fouls.
New Orleans was Webster’s fourth team in as many years, spending injury-riddled stops with the Houston Texans in 2018 and Los Angeles Rams in 2017.
