starting left tackle Terron Armstead underwent successful surgery earlier in the week to repair a torn labrum in his shoulder, according to a source familiar with the situation.
Armstead's procedure was performed Monday and he is expected to rehabilitate primarily in New Orleans, the source said.
The recovery process will keep Armstead out of action between four to six months, which places his potential return in mid-October at the earliest and mid-December at the latest.
The 6-foot-5, 304-pound Armstead suffered the injury during individual position drills on the second day of mandatory minicamp.
