The New Orleans Saints stood pat in the latest NFL power rankings from Doug Farrar over at Touchdown Wire. Despite having ripped out of a 6-1 record without Drew Brees at quarterback for most of that run, New Orleans sits behind two undefeated squads in the upstart San Francisco 49ers (6-0) and reigning-champion New England Patriots (7-0). But with Brees’ return imminent, odds are good the Saints can make a bid for the top spot in the coming weeks.
Farrar dinged the Saints for giving up too many yards and a few scores to Chicago Bears quarterback Mitchell Trubisky in garbage time, making what would have been an impressive 36-10 win look less-so with a 36-25 final tally.
