on Monday announced the signing of center Chris Watt, who attended last week's mandatory minicamp on a tryout basis.
The 6-foot-3, 310-pound Watt entered the league in 2014 out of Notre Dame as a third-round pick (89th overall) of the then-San Diego Chargers, where he appeared in 17 career games with eight starts.
Watt missed the entire 2016 season with a knee injury.
With starting center Max Unger recovering from foot surgery, the signing of Watt bolsters depth at the center position ahead of training camp.
Watt joins Josh LeRibeus, Jack Allen and rookie Cameron Tom as healthy options at center currently on the Saints roster.
