The New Orleans Saints added some depth to their linebacker corps on Wednesday, signing free agent linebacker Will Compton. Compton’s signing was first reported by John Keim of ESPN.
Compton suited up for the Tennessee Titans last year, having spent his first five seasons with the Washington Redskins. The 6-foot-2, 235-pound linebacker has started 35 of his 69 career games, logging 286 tackles (170 solo) in that span.
The Saints’ starting middle linebacker, Alex Anzalone, has been working individually with team athletic trainers to return from an undisclosed injury. But a new issue arose during their preseason game against the Los Angeles Chargers when top backup Craig Robertson exited with what appeared to be a knee injury.
