NEW ORLEANS -- The New Orleans Saints made their first defensive addition in free agency Thursday -- linebacker Nate Stupar -- though he might make his biggest mark on special teams.
The Saints announced that they signed Stupar to a three-year deal after the division rival Atlanta Falcons declined to tender him as a restricted free agent. Terms were not disclosed.
The 6-foot-2, 240-pound Stupar led the Falcons with eight solo tackles on special teams last year and has a total of 16 special-teams tackles over the past two years.
Stupar, 28, also started three games for the Falcons last year and has the ability to play all three linebacker spots.
