METAIRIE, La. – The New Orleans Saints have signed three players this week with the aim of improving their depleted special teams units.
They signed former Kansas City Chiefs and Green Bay Packers linebacker Sam Barrington and former Denver Broncos and Houston Texans safety Shiloh Keo on Wednesday after claiming veteran tight end John Phillips off waivers from the Broncos on Monday.
Sean Payton explained Monday that the Saints’ special teams performance has suffered in part because core special teamers like linebackers Craig Robertson and Nate Stupar and tight end Josh Hill have been playing full-time roles on offense and defense.
