The New Orleans Saints released reserve offensive lineman Michael Ola on Wednesday, as first reported by Josh Katzenstein of the Times-Picayune. Ola was signed last week along with Josh LeRibeus, who started at left guard in place of Andrus Peat against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
New Orleans’ corresponding move was the re-signing of offensive lineman Jermon Bushrod, who was released last Saturday to open a spot for Jonathan Williams’ promotion from the practice squad. Bushrod and Ola both spent the summer on the Saints’ 90-man roster, largely backing up at tackle and guard.
With starting left tackle Terron Armstead (knee) and starting left guard Andrus Peat (ankle) each limited participants in Wednesday’s injury report, the Saints very likely need to bolster their line with some experienced veterans like Bushrod.
