NEW ORLEANS -- The New Orleans Saints defense made the wrong kind of history on Sunday, setting the NFL record for most touchdown passes allowed in a season with 42.
The previous record of 40 was set by the 1963 Denver Broncos.
The Saints (5-9) got off to a strong start on Sunday with two interceptions while building a 24-0 lead. But they allowed No. 40 to Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Blake Bortles late in the second quarter, then allowed No. 41 on the opening drive of the second half.
