The New Orleans Saints officially completed two roster moves on Saturday, placing wide receiver Dez Bryant on injured reserve and promoting Keith Kirkwood from the practice squad in his place. Per the Advocate’s Nick Underhill, Kirkwood’s promotion was going to happen regardless of Bryant’s status for Sunday’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals – this was something the Saints had been anticipating and working towards.
Fears for Bryant’s condition were confirmed with MRI test results: the former All-Pro suffered a torn Achilles tendon and will not play this season, and he’s looking at an 8- to 12-month timetable to return.
