When Saints head coach Sean Payton came to New Orleans in 2006, he did so with a bang. Prior to this past season, that 2006 draft class was likely the best in Saints history. That went all the way down to the team’s two seventh round picks: Marques Colston and Zach Strief.
It hasn’t been announced publicly, but word is that Zach Strief will soon be announcing his retirement. The reliable right tackle spent most of last season on injured reserve following a 2016 Season that was the best of his career.
Much was made of the Saints taking tackle Ryan Ramczyk in last year’s draft but now the Saints look prescient.
