The New Orleans Saints offensive line took a big hit midway through Sunday’s game with the Philadelphia Eagles when right guard Nick Easton was ruled out with a concussion. While he was replaced by rookie draft pick Cesar Ruiz, neither of them were having much success against Eagles defensive tackle Fletcher Cox and his teammates up front.
It’s a scary situation for Easton. He suffered an earlier brain injury in Week 5’s win over the Los Angeles Chargers that put him in NFL concussion protocol for three weeks. These sort of injuries can stack up and end careers, and cause debilitating effects not felt until years after players have hung up their cleats.
